DSC_0872This past weekend we zipped off to Venice. And, honestly…it’s magical. Yes, it’s completely overrun with tourists. But it’s a city in the middle of the water! Full of gorgeous, slightly crumbling buildings and incredible food! How amazing is that? Leaving the airport, we decided to splurge on a private taxi boat to a stop near our hotel. A travel tip: taking a boat to your hotel immediately makes your weekend special. DSC_0868 From there, we simply spent the weekend doing what you do in Venice: seeing Piazza San Marco and the buildings around it, getting lost in narrow streets, eating delicious food…it was great. We tried to minimize the time spent in the crowds of tourists, taking a sharp turn away from any crowd we met. Our hotel was a bit off the beaten path, with a lovely quiet square in front of it, which helped a lot in feeling like we could have some quiet moments. And, if all of that wasn’t exciting enough, the New York Times ran a 36 Hours in Venice…while we were there! How fun! DSC_0976 DSC_0968 DSC_0958 DSC_0883 DSC_0877 DSC_0882 DSC_0922 DSC_0911DSC_0903

  1. This is one of the perks of living in Switzerland: traveling in Europe is simple (you are just in the center of it!) and looks always cheaper (not Venice although)! Venice is amazing for a weekend and it seems you’ve captured the spirit of it. Bravo!
